President Carolyn Tinner called the DCMGA Board of
Directors Meeting to order at 9:05 AM. Those in attendance were Karen
Archambault, Annie Brackin, John Cooper, Sandy Hiatte, Maurine LeBeau,
Susan Musgrave, Carolyn Tinner, Linda Williams, Donna Wolfe, and Mary
Morrow.
The minutes were submitted to the Board via email by Mary
Morrow, Secretary, and approved as written.
Susan Musgrave, Historian, gave an update on the
"Cool Shade for the Third Grade," LISD tree distribution project. The
trees will be shipped on October 17, bagging will be on October 20-21,
and distribution will be the week of October 24. A minimum of 9
additional volunteers is needed to distribute the trees. Susan will
do sign up sheets to have available at the Retreat, and directions to
her home.
Linda Williams, Treasurer, submitted the Treasurer's
Report; the ending balance is $13,914.18.
Carolyn provided pricing comparison for the purchase of a laptop,
related hardware, and software. Lengthy discussion followed. It was
decided to continue research of purchasing the equipment and finding
an AV coordinator. Joanne fellows will conduct Power Point training,
beginning with the Speakers Bureau
Sandy Hiatte, First Vice President, advised
everything was set to go for the Retreat on October 6. We have 25
registered to attend.
Sandy gave the 2006 Slate of Officers and advised of the positions not

Carolyn provided information on locations/related cost for the Annual

the Annual Dinner and Graduation at the Ruby Room in Highland Village,
contingent upon visual approval. Mary seconded the motion; all
approved.
Karen Archambault, Second Vice President, gave an update on
Plants, Birds, and Elephants held on September 24 at LISDOLA. She
advised 75 attendees completed survey forms. She advised attendance
was good considering the threat of the hurricane, and everyone,
including attendees, vendors, and volunteers, had an enjoyable time.
She voiced her concern regarding the amount of work involved in the
preparation of the event, and the lack of support received to ensure
success of this event. It was decided a separate committee would be
formed to prepare for this event in the future.
Sandy advised the Round-Up would be held on Wednesday, October 19, at
10:00 AM. Sue Chellew, Hospitality, will be coordinating refreshments
and decorations. Sandy advised our next meeting, October 12, will be
held at night, and include a Plant Swap and training on revised
Project Forms.
Mary advised volunteers for Work Days at LHOF were not as forthcoming
as in the past. She will solicit help at the Retreat and send emails
to those she had not heard from that have worked before. The meeting
