The Tom Harpool Horticultural Scholarship was created to assist and encourage students enrolled in the study of horticulture or other gardening-related subjects. The $1000 scholarship is awarded annually to any Denton County resident who is currently enrolled in a horticulture or related major at any college or university. The scholarship is typically funded through proceeds from the annual DCMGA Plant Sale and Garden Tour.
For 2015, DCMGA sponsored one $1,000 scholarship and the Canyon Oaks Garden Club in Argyle sponsored a second $1,000 scholarship. This is the second year in a row that the Canyon Oaks Garden Club sponsored the DCMGA scholarship, and we are once again grateful for their generosity!
Scholarship applicants will be reviewed through Denton County Livestock Association Youth Fair (DCLAYF) in conjunction with the DCMGA Scholarship Committee.
Please use the DCLAYF application, and follow instructions on the application to apply.
If a candidate is not selected through DCLAYF in early March, the application deadline will be extended to March 31st and the applicant may use the Tom Harpool Scholarship Application below or the DCLAYF application.
Download and print the Tom Harpool Scholarship Application. Complete the application and mail with proof of enrollment and two letters of recommendation to the address on the application.
