Join the Denton County Master Gardeners for our popular Design Your Yard with Earth-Kind® Landscaping class. This course concentrates on the thoughtful planning of a beautiful, productive yard or garden using Earth-Kind® practices that conserve time, money, and natural resources. The class includes a wide range of topics including planning, preparation, design application, plant selection, and hardscape considerations. The course will focus on Earth-Kind and landscape design principles with the step-by-step basics of creating your own design. The class will include both lecture and working in small groups.
- Friday evening, October 18, 2019, 6:30–8:30 P.M., and Saturday, October 19, 9:00 A.M.–4:30 P.M.

Fee for the class is $100 for one person or $125 for two people in the same household. Registrant duos will share materials and design one property. Design materials, including a flash drive of digital content, will be provided, as well as refreshments.
Space is limited. Online registration is required. The registration deadline is October 14, and fees must be received by then to reserve your place in the class.
- Participants will be asked to email pictures of the area they wish to design prior to class. During class, students will work in small groups with a teacher to guide them.
- The class will use a combination of drawing and computer-aided design. Participants are encouraged to bring a tablet or computer to class.
- Participants should bring a copy of their lot survey, usually a part of the property deed, and any HOA or city requirements.
Students may also download Google Earth or Google Earth Pro, type in the address of the property and look at aerial and street views.
Students may also wish to go to soiltesting.tamu.edu and follow the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service information to have the soil tested before class. The Urban and Homeowner Soil Sample Information Form has instructions on how and where to collect samples, the cost, and how to mail the sample.
